Hi, it’s me, ChitChat. I’m one of six ItsIts. You may not know that each ItsIt represents a personality trait. So, I decided it was time to share with all of you boys and girls, your parents, and teachers more about whom I am and what I represent in YOUR life.
The personality trait I represent is Communication. I love representing communication because it means I’m friendly and like meeting people. Communication offers me the opportunity to chat with new people and form new friendships. I guess that’s why they call me ChitChat.
Being a good communicator helps me to be open, honest and, with speak in a tone of voice others enjoy hearing. My listening skills are excellent, which reassures people I am seriously listening to them and their opinions and what they have to say is valued. I also have the ability to choose my words carefully so not to offend anyone Life is amazing when you talk and act appropriately.
At one time in my life, I was shy. It was uncomfortable for me to communicate and I differently didn’t know how to make others feel comfortable. Once I developed better communication skills my confidence soared, and shyness was no longer a problem. If you are shy, work to improve your communication style so you can experience positive changes in your life. One communication skill I learned was to ask people questions; questions encourage people to open up. Try it, it works!
Here are some tips that helped me improve my communication skills:
Make good eye contact when speaking one-on-one or speaking to a group.
Speak plainly and be aware of the tone of your voice.
Be a good listener; it is the only way that someone will know you are interested in hearing what they have to say.
Always, address someone with respect and sincerity, especially when discussing sensitive topics.
Don’t be afraid to reach out to others. Communication is easier when you ask questions. Most people will respond positively.
It is so cool representing communication. The better I communicate, the more remarkable my life becomes, wow, what a fantastic feeling.
Hopefully, you now understand me, and what I represent. Enjoy your life through good communication and develop relationships that are open, honest, offer support and are meaningful.
A friend once said to me, "you have to be a friend to have a friend.” So, don’t be afraid to reach out. Voice your thoughts, wants and needs and carefully listen when others voice theirs.
Before saying goodbye, I want you to how I really enjoyed sharing myself with you. Hopefully, we will be chatting soon.
